Pauri 33 — Aakhan jor (No power of one's own)

1 verses · The deepest meditation on powerlessness in Japji. 'Jor' rings out seven times, each line denying it — no power in speech, silence, asking, giving, living, dying, even awareness. Power is His alone. From this flows the ethics: 'utam neech na ko-ay' — no one is high, no one low.

  In speaking, no power of one's own; in silence, no power either
