Enchiridion · §15

Remember that you must behave as you would at a banquet. Something is carried around and comes to you: reach out your hand and take your portion with grace. It passes by: do not hold it back. It has not yet arrived: do not reach forward with desire, but wait until it comes to you. So it is with children, with a wife, with public office, with wealth. And one day you will be worthy to dine with the gods.
