Japji Sahib · Pauri 29

Mundaa santokh saram pat jholee dhi-aan kee karahi bibhoot. Khinthaa kaal ku-aaree kaa-i-aa jugat dandaa parteet. Aa-ee panthee sagal jamaatee man jeetai jag jeet. Aadays tisai aadays. Aad aneel anaad anaahat jug jug ayko vays.

Let contentment be your ear-rings; modesty your begging-bowl and shoulder-bag; meditation the ash you smear. Let the awareness of death be your patched cloak; a chaste body your discipline; faith your staff. Consider all humanity your own sect — for by conquering the mind, the world is conquered. Salutation, salutation only to that One — primal, pure, without beginning, indestructible, in every age the same Form.
