Japji Sahib · Pauri 19

Asankh moorakh andh ghor. Asankh chor haraamkhor. Asankh amar kar jaahi jor. Asankh galvadh hati-aa kamaahi. Asankh paapee paap kar jaahi. Asankh koorhi-aar koorhay phiraahi. Asankh malaychh mal bhakh khaahi. Asankh nindak sir karahi bhaar. Nanak neech kahai veechaar. Vaari-aa na jaavaa ayk vaar. Jo tudh bhaavai saa-ee bhalee kaar. Too sadaa salaamat Nirankaar.

Countless are the fools, dark with deep blindness. Countless the thieves, eaters of what is forbidden. Countless those who issue orders by force. Countless the throat-slitters, doing murder. Countless the sinners committing sin and leaving. Countless the liars wandering in falsehood. Countless the impure who eat impurity. Countless the slanderers carrying their slander's weight on their own heads. Nanak the lowly speaks this thought. I cannot match You even once. Whatever pleases You is the only right action. You are forever inviolate, O Formless One.
