Japji Sahib · Pauri 10

Suni-ai eesar barmaa ind. Suni-ai mukh saalaahan mand. Suni-ai jog jugat tan bhayd. Suni-ai saasat simrit vayd. Nanak bhagtaa sadaa vigaas. Suni-ai dookh paap kaa naas.

By listening — Shiva, Brahma, Indra (the highest deities, their stations made known). By listening — even the evil mouth begins to speak praise. By listening — the method of yoga, the secrets of the body. By listening — Shastras, Smritis, Vedas. Nanak says — devotees are forever in bliss. By listening, pain and sin are destroyed.
