Japji Sahib · Pauri 9

Suni-ai sidh peer sur naath. Suni-ai dharat dhaval aakaas. Suni-ai deep lo-a paataal. Suni-ai pohi na sakai kaal. Nanak bhagtaa sadaa vigaas. Suni-ai dookh paap kaa naas.

By listening — one becomes a siddha, a pir, a celestial being, a yogic master. By listening — the earth, the bull that holds it up, the sky. By listening — the islands, the worlds, the nether-regions. By listening — death cannot afflict you. Nanak says — devotees are forever in bliss. By listening, pain and sin are destroyed.
