जातिलक्षणदेशैरन्यतानवच्छेदात्तुल्ययोस्ततः प्रतिपत्तिः॥५३॥

jāti-lakṣaṇa-deśair anyatā-anavacchedāt tulyayos tataḥ pratipattiḥ

From this discriminative knowledge arises the ability to distinguish between two objects that are identical in species, characteristic, and location.
