शब्दार्थप्रत्ययानामितरेतराध्यासात्सङ्करस्तत्प्रविभागसंयमात्सर्वभूतरुतज्ञानम्॥१७॥

śabda-artha-pratyayānām itaretarādhyāsāt saṅkaras tat-pravibhāga-saṁyamāt sarva-bhūta-ruta-jñānam

Word, meaning, and idea are usually confused with one another by mutual superimposition. By sanyama on their distinction, knowledge of the sounds and speech of all creatures arises.
