Bāhitapāpoti brāhmaṇo, samacariyā samaṇoti vuccati;Pabbājayamattano malaṃ, tasmā pabbajitoti vuccati.
Bahitapapoti brahmano, samacariya samanoti vuccati; Pabbajayamattano malam, tasma pabbajitoti vuccati.
Because he has cast out evil, he is called a brahmin. Because he lives in calm conduct, he is called a samaṇa. Because he has cast off his own taints, he is called pabbajita — one gone forth.
