Dhammapada · 24.4

Taṃ vo vadāmi bhaddaṃ vo, yāvantettha samāgatā;Taṇhāya mūlaṃ khaṇatha, usīrattho va bīraṇaṃ;Mā vo naḷaṃva sotova, māro bhañji punappunaṃ.

Tam vo vadami bhaddam vo, yavantettha samagata; Tanhaya mulam khanatha, usirattho va biranam; Ma vo nalamva sotova, maro bhanji punappunam.

I say this to you — blessings on all of you who have assembled here — dig up the root of craving, as one who wants the fragrant usīra root digs up the bīraṇa grass. Do not let Māra break you again and again, as a torrent breaks a reed.
