Dhammapada · 18.9

Tato malā malataraṃ, avijjā paramaṃ malaṃ;Etaṃ malaṃ pahantvāna, nimmalā hotha bhikkhavo.

Tato mala malataram, avijja paramam malam; Etam malam pahantvana, nimmala hotha bhikkhavo.

Worse than these taints is ignorance — the supreme taint of all. Having abandoned this taint, O monks, become stainless.
