Dhammapada · 13.11

Na ve kadariyā devalokaṃ vajanti, bālā have nappasaṃsanti dānaṃ;Dhīro ca dānaṃ anumodamāno, teneva so hoti sukhī parattha.

Na ve kadariya devalokam vajanti, bala have nappasamsanti danam; Dhiro ca danam anumodamano, teneva so hoti sukhi parattha.

The miserly do not go to the heavenly realm; fools do not praise giving. But the wise one, rejoicing in giving, is happy in the next world.
