Dhammapada · 12.3

Attānaṃ ce tathā kayirā, yathāññamanusāsati;Sudanto vata dametha, attā hi kira duddamo.

Attanam ce tatha kayira, yathannamanusasati; Sudanto vata dametha, atta hi kira duddamo.

As one teaches another, so should one do oneself. Well-tamed, one tames others; truly the self is hard to tame.
