Dhammapada · 10.2

Sabbe tasanti daṇḍassa, sabbesaṃ jīvitaṃ piyaṃ;Attānaṃ upamaṃ katvā, na haneyya na ghātaye.

Sabbe tasanti dandassa, sabbesam jivitam piyam; Attanam upamam katva, na haneyya na ghataye.

All tremble at the rod; to all, life is dear. Comparing others to oneself, one should neither kill nor cause to kill.
