Sabbe tasanti daṇḍassa, sabbe bhāyanti maccuno;Attānaṃ upamaṃ katvā, na haneyya na ghātaye.
Sabbe tasanti dandassa, sabbe bhayanti maccuno; Attanam upamam katva, na haneyya na ghataye.
All beings tremble at the rod; all fear death. Comparing others to oneself, one should neither kill nor cause to kill.
