Dhammapada · 8.8

Yo ca vassasataṃ jantu, aggiṃ paricare vane;Ekañca bhāvitattānaṃ, muhuttamapi pūjaye;Sāyeva pūjanā seyyo, yañce vassasataṃ hutaṃ.

Yo ca vassasatam jantu, aggim paricare vane; Ekanca bhavitattanam, muhuttamapi pujaye; Sayeva pujana seyyo, yance vassasatam hutam.

Though a person tend the sacred fire in the forest for a hundred years, one moment's homage to a self-cultivated person is better than a hundred years of such fire-tending.
