Bahumpi ce saṃhita bhāsamāno, na takkaro hoti naro pamatto;Gopova gāvo gaṇayaṃ paresaṃ, na bhāgavā sāmaññassa hoti.

Bahumpi ce samhita bhasamano, na takkaro hoti naro pamatto; Gopova gavo ganayam paresam, na bhagava samannassa hoti.

Though he recites many sacred texts, the heedless person who does not act on them is like a cowherd counting others' cows — he has no share in the contemplative life.
